  20. Most upgradable modems contain a flash ROM.  This is the ROM in the
  21. modem that can actually be written to.

  23. The software to upgrade the modem comes from the modem vendor (in this
  24. case US Robotics). Look for the BBS number that came with your modem,
  25. that's where you get the software.
